Holi Hai!!

I am not religious, but i love celebrating festivals. It sometimes makes me feel like a hypocrite, but I don’t really care. Festivals are days that are meant to bring people closer to each other and that’s all that matters to me. Anyways, yesterday was Holi, the festival of colours. Well it’s not really that way at my place. 8:30AM The sleepy me was in no mood to get up. “Get up and get ready before 9, else people are going to come in and dirty my house.” Mom screamed at me. Getting ready generally means getting dressed in your best clothes. But, today it meant picking up the shabbiest clothes you have. 9:00AM Everybody was downstairs armed with colours and pichkaries. As soon as I was spotted, there was a call for attack. Within a … Read entire article »

Cancer awareness: I need your suggestions

Cancer awareness: I need your suggestions

Todayas I opened my Facebook profile, i saw a status message by Shilpa Garg, a blogger friend,on worldwide cancer awareness day. It reminded me of an incident that tookplace about a year ago. Today I would like to share with you the story of Ram (namechanged), my very good friend and colleague. I should have come up with this post much earlier, but then, better late than never. Ram’smother developed a cancer in her gall bladder. I … Read entire article »

What If…

What If…

“You can’t really connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect them looking backward” –Steve Jobs “What if?” It’s strange how a two worded term like this can play such a significant role in our daily lives. It’s a question we ask ourselves almost every single day. Tonight as Gurdeep’s tries to join the dots looking back that’s exactly what he asks himself. Today Gurdeep had just got a new job in a … Read entire article »

For all of you who have read Hum honge kamayab ek din part 1: this is not an update on my GMAT score. For all of you who haven’t read Hum honge kamayab ek din part 1: you are more than welcome to read the first part, however, there in no link between the two. For all those who are wondering if I have run out ideas for my blog posts and thats why I am writing sequels: No, that’s not the case, it’s just that this post and the one preceding it, suited the context. So, what is this whole post about? Well, blog-a-ton 6 came and went. Karthik has won the first blog-a-ton of 2010 hands down. A well deserved win dude, congratulations! HUM HONGE KAMAYAB EK DIN!!

So the GMAT was today and like almost all my exams till date I f***ed up once again. I got a pathetic score of 530. No I am not drunk, am just plain shameless and I guess I just like embarrassing myself. But as I look back and try to analyse what went wrong, I have probably done everything right, I finished all the material one is supposed to read for his GMAT, gave his mock tests, scored relatively good there, except that I kept loosing focus regularly, that’s where I think I went wrong. The past three days though were pretty amazing. By Saturday I was pretty confident I knew everything so I said to myself “Lets just chill and freak out” and that’s what I did. Went … Read entire article »

Wake up Tavish!!

Wake up Tavish. This is what I titled the lecture I got from mom after we had seen Wake up Sid. I get a lecture almost every single day from mom, but this time there was this weird sense of inspiration that if the Sid can “wake up” so can this guy. The dialogues were the usual ones though and the conversation ended with “Teri biwi ne mujhe galiyan nikalni hai ek din, kuch nahi sikhaya apne bete ko bas bhej diya”. I too had my usual counter arguments.Little did I know a few days later I would have my very own “Wake up Sid” experience though. No, my mom never threw me out of the house(thankfully the inspiration wasn’t that much). I shifted into my friend’s place for a … Read entire article »

Where are you, where are you

The following lines are dedicated to my best friends… I have written a poem after 6 years so i dont expect it to be great but its straight from the heart guys… Where are you, where are you I shout aloud, In search for the friends that once existed Who wiped off my tears before they fell, Who felt my pain before I would tell. With whom I laughed, when the tides were high, Who showed me a reason when life was all dry. They were the family I always turned to, And they would always be there before I even knew. We laughed, we cried, we sang together, Secretly we all wished it would go on forever, When the time came for us to depart, One angel told me it would never end, On that promise I would always depend Without you lonely in … Read entire article »

Slumdog Millionaire… my take on this phenomenon

No this is not turning into a blog for movie review, but this is just one other movie that has touched me recently. People have loads of things to say about this movie. It s got its share of critics as well as lovers. I’ve been hearing a lot of those ever since it got nominated for the golden globes and now the news channels are making sure I hear nothing else but that. My take though on this movie is pretty different from what people have been saying. This movie touched me not because I felt a sense of pity for the slum dwellers or for the matter of fact that it showed how a guy living in the slums can end up achieving big things, although they are things … Read entire article »

A Conversation I am gonna remember for a long time

It was relatively bad day at office. Loads of work to do and all I wanted to do was sleep in the cab on my way back home. Unfortunately for me the cab driver wasn’t in a mood to let me do so. He was in a really talkative mood and would continuously talk to me about something or the other. I was trying to avoid talking to him so much but he would just never get the hint! Honestly speaking now if you ask me, thank god he didn’t. He was asking all sorts of questions ranging from where I was from to which college I have done my engineering from, and basically all the questions that a person to ask when he is trying to know you. I being … Read entire article »

If god granted me three wishes

Share This was an essay I had written in the 9Th standard for my half yearly exams. Of all the essays I have written till date this is 1 essay, which changed my life completely. Actually changed my dad’s life more than mine, shall explain why at the end of this post. Here it goes We all want something or the other at some point of time or the other in life. As a kid all we want is a chocolate or a small toy and as we grow older out demands keep changing. As they say desires are endless don’t they? Well I don’t know about you but here’s what I would wish for.My first wish would be to ask god to grant me opportunities. To be successful in life I … Read entire article »
