Jab we Met…

*****On a bright Sunday morning*****

I was sitting at Cafe Nandini with Sahil and Arvind, 2 of my friends from office. We were busy talking about all the usual non-sense, which generally means cursing our work and our respective bosses.

The place was jam packed. People were standing around hoping for somebody to leave so that they could get hold of their table. At one point it became so bad that there were actually people standing around our table, waiting to grab our table as soon as we get up. People were actually staring at my plate, in a way telling me to finish things fast. It wasn’t long before the awkward situation forced Arvind to call for the cheque. Man! You should have seen the face of one of the guys waiting near our table when he heard Arvind; it was as if he had won a lottery.

We were busy trying to find our way out of the maze of people there, when I heard an excited voice call out my name.

“Hey Tavish!!!”

I turned around to see who it was. “Hey hi! How are you? How is work coming along?”

He said, “I am doing good man. Work is going great. In fact I finally got my transfer to Mumbai.”

I replied, “Wow! That’s great! I know how badly you have wanted to go there. Now finally you can be with your parents. Do stay in touch and give me your new number as soon as you get one there.”

“Sure man, will do, I have your number.” He said smiling.

Sahil and Arvind were standing along with me while our little conversation was going on. After about a minute I just looked at Sahil and Arvind and said:

“Who the hell was this guy?”

They both just stared at me with their mouths wide open.
