Wish
“If god granted you three wishes, what would you wish for and why?” read the question in my 9th grade half yearly english paper. It was an essay which was meant to fetch me 25 marks in the paper, but it ended up changing my entire life, actually, ended up changing my dad’s life more than mine. I’ll explain how at the end of this post. Here is how the essay went –
We all wish for something or the other at some point of time in life. As a kid we wish for a chocolate or a fancy toy. As we grow older, our demands increase and keep changing. As they say desires are endless, don’t they? Well I don’t know what you would wish for, but here are my three wishes:
My first wish would be to ask god to grant me opportunities. To be successful I think the first thing a person needs is opportunities. There are many people in this world who aren’t as fortunate as I am to be studying in a good school, to have good clothes to wear. There are children in this world who are handicapped and disabled and hence don’t get the opportunity to achieve what they want to. That’s why I believe, the first step to achieve anything is to have opportunities.
My second wish would be to ask god to grant me the strength to overcome obstacles. If god grants me opportunities, I would definitely face obstacles in my path to achieve my goal and that’s why I would want god to grant me the power to overcome those obstacles. Not just in my quest to conquer my dreams, but if tomorrow, god forbid not, if someone close to me happens to pass away, I would not want to sit and cry over the loss. Instead I would want to look at the people who need me at that time.
My third wish would be to ask god to grant the ability to spread happiness and share my sorrows with the people around me. As they say happiness is doubled and sorrows are halved when it is spread with other people. I would definitely be happy when I achieve whatever I set out to achieve and sad when I am unable to achieve it. Whatever it may I would like to share it with the people who are close to me.
So here are the wishes I would ask god if he granted me three wishes. I believe these are the three most important things that would make me a successful person.
Now coming to how it changed my dad’s life – My dad used to have this huge phobia that he will pass away when I was 14 since his dad passed away when my dad was 14. When he read this essay, specially the last line in the third paragraph where I talk of my second wish, it just somehow changed how he looks at me and ended that whole phobia that he was going through and believe me, my dad has been a changed person ever since.

Hi Tavish;
I read your comment on my post last night and oh…i felt so bad about the mistake…sorry about it…yours and Gyanban's blogs were opened at the same time, so I was confused, maybe!
Promise, I will not commit such mistake again next time…and of course, you have my vote!
Have a beautiful Sunday!!!
If i evaluate the answer paper, i would like to give you 25 for the writeup and 75 for impressing all the hearts who reads this.
When we are in school, we used to write neatly for that extra one mark, ultimately for 101/100 but today i feel i should give you 101/25.
I am impressed totally.. You are very Sensible Bakwas for sure.
I wish you a good luck for BATOM – 12.

Your wishes simply translate into asking for a life without problems. Although impossible, sometimes we can even live by dreaming.
